Symposium Cary North Carolina

Carrie Knowles, Susan Buret and Belinda Nicoll. Symposium on Identity and Immigration.

Artists Lecture/Symposium: A Measure of Security as part of the Exhibition by Susan Buret
Town Hall, 316 North Academy St., 2-4 p.m.
Join us for Susan Buret, a noted Australian collage artist will be talking about her recent work: A Measure of Security at the Cary Town Hall. Buret's most recent work focuses on the many issues of immigration and how artists are able to initiate difficult discussions. Local writer, Belinda Nicoll, will also be at the symposium reading from her book "My Life as an Alien" that explores her personal experiences as a recent ex-pat to the US from South Africa. Writer, visual artist, and Free Range Studio owner Carrie Knowles will moderate the discussion. Knowles says “the symposium will be a rare opportunity to hear two outstanding artists discuss one of the most important topics of our times. Creativity should have no boundaries and Dreams no fences. One of the most interesting things for me about both writing and artwork is how an artist can both engage people and challenge them to think. Art and writing are not stagnant...they are vibrant and necessary in our society.” Free. For more, call (919) 469-4061 or visit www.townofcary.org.
