Back in the Studio

Back in the studio I am working on two new large works and trying to plan my schedule for the next year or two.

I often make small 30 cm x 30 cm works as studies when I am working with new patterns and colour. Some times it's fun to place the works side together to see where my work is going. The work on the left is from 2008 and the one on the right from this month.

Grand Designs

Levelling the Site

Like about half the population of Australia and the UK, I am addicted to the program Grand Designs in which we follow the joys, trials and tribulations people built their dream homes.

I am about to build a new studio in my back garden and, while my budget doesn't run to the architect designed building of my dreams, I have had some input in the design of the prefabricated shed which will be sympathetic to the rural out buildings in the area.
The work started today so stay tuned for the Grand Designs commentary of progress from the architect manque. Kevin McLeod eat your heart out!

I have had a frantic morning removing violets from the path of the bobcat and now hope to spend the afternoon catching up with my blog class.

I might add that the soil is barely turned and I have already issued an invitation to German Artist Maja Spasova, who I made collaborative work with at Ragdale, to come and visit.

My Studio and Other Constructions

Firstly, here's a shot of the temporary studio complete with elegant furnishings which I trip around every day sadly missing the grand piano from Ragdale.

And, on a more important note, fruit and vegetable producers of the world be warned, the Buret greenhouse is now built and fully operational. This morning the farmer manque sewed dill, chervil and mesclun in the hope that they might be ready to plant out in spring.

I didn't know that I couldn't shoot movies in portrait format. This blog is turning into a watch Susan learn how to use the video function on her camera documentary.

I should have reshot it or maybe even learned how to edit it. But I like the commentary, so, here it is, hot from the press.

When I come to my senses I will replace it.

Tidy Studio

You may find it hard to believe but my studio looks tidy. I had to tidy up as I was showing work to visitors and also having work photographed before it goes to Melbourne. I now have this theory that if I have flowers here then I might keep it tidy. After a visit from the photographer I should have some really good images to post soon....stay tuned.
