Wisdom
As Bob Dylan once said, "What's money? A man is a success if he gets up in the morning and goes to bed at night and in between does what he wants to do."
"What is success?" asked Ralph Waldo Emerson, "To laugh often and much. To win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children. To earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends. To appreciate beauty. To find the best in others. To leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition. To know even one life breathed easier because you have lived; this is to have succeeded."

8 June
..we are born for a brief span of life, and because this spell of time that has been given to us rushes by so swiftly and rapidly that with very few exceptions life ceases for the rest of us just when we are getting ready for it.

Origami Takes Shape
After a long consultation with the beginners guide to origami I have decided on this shape. The pieces are called stackers. When you throw a stack of them into the air they take flight in all different directions and land all over the place. I like the idea of free migration uncontrolled by definition. Above is the beginning of my fleet.

The sun is shining and I have just taken my morning walk to the amphitheatre. I am a city girl (her indoors the human equivalent of the little white dog on the couch!) but it is impossible to be here and not consider making work which engages with the land. The land has already taken possession of me not I it in a real estate transaction. I am thinking about making works with origami shapes in pink paper which talk about my fragile and ephemeral presence as an outsider in this powerful place. Maybe i will scatter them like crumbs to find my way home or perhaps make little paper houses. After photographing the work I will take it home and maybe shred it.

Tonight's Visitor
This beautiful glossy wombat is in the courtyard outside my studio tonight. He is not disturbed by human visitors and obviously likes having his photo taken. I think my friend Nicola Moss will want to paint him.

Off the Wall
The other benefit was that I got to meet and talk and share ideas with several other artists from around Australia. Jennie Nayton, Tim Sharp, Jason Wing, Sandra Landolt and Cash Brown it was fantastic to meet all of you.
